Brief Biography:
Diploma of Education (V.A.P.A.); Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts/Literatures of English); Certificate (Human Resource Management)
Yeana is the mother of two boys: Kimani (12 yrs) and Khafra (10 yrs), and her hometown is Siparia, Trinidad & Tobago. A registered educator with the Ministry of Education for the past 22 years, she is currently the Head of the Visual and Performing Arts & Physical Education Department at the San Fernando West Secondary School. As the Director and Chief Vision Officer of the non-profit organization, Art By Creative Design©, she endeavours to create opportunities for creative expression for those with whom she interacts and help make Dreams come true.
Artist Statement:
“My interest in the Creative Arts has been revealed ever since I was a toddler. I have been Blessed to have persons in my life who have nurtured my talents and allowed me room to develop my Voice. It is because of these experiences that I have endeavoured throughout my career to create similar opportunities for creative expression for those with whom I interact. Helping my students has helped me focus on my own call to vocation, and that has led me to establish Art By Creative Design© - a non-profit organization which advocates for the promotion of excellence in Arts education, training, and practice, and the appreciation of the Arts in Trinidad & Tobago. As I journey forward I hope to continue to work with others seeking to make their dreams come true, even as my Dreams are revealed and realized. “
