You can't install RSAT on computers that are running Home or Standard editions of Windows. You can install RSAT only on Professional or Enterprise editions of the Windows client operating system. Unless the download page specifically states that RSAT applies to a beta, preview, or other prerelease version of Windows, you must be running a full (RTM) release of the Windows operating system to install and use RSAT. Some users have found ways of manually cracking or hacking the RSAT MSU to install RSAT on unsupported releases or editions of Windows. This behavior is a violation of the Windows end-user license agreement.

Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) is a Microsoft Management Console snap-in that you use to administer Active Directory (AD). You can manage objects (users, computers), Organizational Units (OU), and attributes of each.

So i installed RSAT for Active Directory Users and Computers on my Windows 10 computer. When I run it it takes me to the mmc with everything visible and you can search for users or computers fine. You just can't change anything. I read in another spiceworks article where you can shift right click and choose "open as another user" and then it prompts for your domain credentials and that works. But it would seem like there has to be a better way to do this. Also I don't like the idea that some of my more curious users might add the RSAT features and be able to access this aspect of my server. Any suggest would be appreciated

A domain administrator may create containers (OUs) based on a physical or logical organization structure. Using a context menu, you can create new AD objects (users, groups, computers, OUs, contacts), rename, move, or delete objects. Depending on the selected object type, context menu options may vary.

The PowerShell Active Directory Module is one example of a component that requires the RSAT package. We get the thrown error when we run active directory commands without RSAT, as shown in the screenshot below.

The Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in is one of the main tools used for managing Active Directory domains. The ADUC snap-in is used to perform typical domain administration tasks and manage users, groups, computers, and Organizational Units in the Active Directory domain.

Organizational Units (commonly referred to as OUs) are used to organize and separate objects within active directory. The objects could be anything that Active Directory could store like user accounts, computers, printers, file shares etc.

When you are configuring a network home directory for remote Mac users, the home directory is created automatically when users first log; it should not exist prior to that initial log on unless you want to prevent Access Manager from creating the home directory. Therefore, you should not define a home directory connection point in the Profile properties for new Active Directory users or new mobile user accounts. Instead, you should allow Access Manager to create and populate the remote home directory. However if you need to synchronize a network home directory from a local home directory as part of your migration process, the network home directory must exist prior to migration. If you are synchronizing from a local home directory to a remote share, you can create the remote home directory manually, or click the Profile tab and set the connection path.

For purposes of illustration, this procedure asks you to create a MacPrint group and then add specific users to the group to provide them with printing privileges on Mac computers. You could also map an existing AD group to the local _lpoperator and _lpadmin groups, or create a new group with a different name.

SYSVOL is a well-known shared directory on the domain controller that stores server copies of public files that must be shared throughout the domain. You can use it to copy the printer definition and configuration files to all Mac computers that join the domain.

If you install the Delinea DirectControl Agent for Mac in an environment where existing Mac users and computers are managed with Open Directory, you may need to migrate the account information and home directories for those users from the Open Directory environment to Delinea Active Directory. Open Directory and Active Directory support three types of users:

Delinea provides the auto.schema.apple_scheme parameter to enable use of the Apple schema for generating UIDs for new users. The recommended way to set this parameter is by way of group policy so that you can set it for a group of computers. You may also set the parameter on individual computers by editing the Delinea configuration file
