XScanner Privacy Policy

RS Apps Studio ("we," "our," or "us") developed XScanner as a free, ad-supported mobile application with optional premium features. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, store, and protect information when you use XScanner and its companion web services.

By using XScanner, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide the features you choose to use.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address through Firebase Authentication to:

• Authenticate your identity

• Enable secure cloud backup

• Synchronize documents across devices

• Allow access to your files through our web application

We do not collect unnecessary personal profile information.

Camera and Photos

XScanner requires permission to access your camera and photos so you can:

• Scan documents

• Import images

• Edit files

• Export documents

The app only accesses media that you choose.

Local Storage

By default, scanned documents, PDFs, images, and extracted text are stored locally on your device.

XScanner does not automatically browse or upload files from your device.

Internet Access

Internet access is required only for:

• Cloud backup and synchronization

• AI Handwritten OCR

• Advertisements

• Analytics

• Crash reporting

Device Information

Our third-party service providers may automatically collect technical information such as:

• Device model

• Android version

• IP address

• Advertising ID (where applicable)

• App performance data

• Crash logs

This information is used to improve app reliability and performance.

2. XCloud Backup and Synchronization

XScanner provides an optional cloud storage feature called XCloud, powered by Firebase.

Optional Cloud Storage

Your files remain on your device unless you choose to upload them.

Cross-Device Access

You may sign in using the same email address on supported devices or our companion web application to access your synchronized documents.

User-Controlled Uploads

Only documents that you explicitly choose to upload are stored in XCloud.

Files that are not uploaded remain only on your device.

3. AI Handwritten OCR

XScanner includes an optional AI-powered handwritten OCR feature that converts handwritten notes into editable text.

This feature is powered by the Google Gemini API.

Image Processing

When you use AI Handwritten OCR:

• The selected image is securely transmitted to Google's servers using encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections.

• The image is processed only to generate OCR results.

• The extracted text is returned to your device.

Data Storage

RS Apps Studio does not permanently store images submitted for AI OCR processing on its own servers.

Google Processing

Processing of your data through the Google Gemini API is governed by Google's applicable API terms and privacy policies. According to Google's documentation for the paid Gemini API, customer content submitted through the API is generally not used to train Google's generative AI models, subject to Google's applicable terms and policies.

Optional Feature

AI Handwritten OCR is completely optional.

You can continue using XScanner without using this feature.

4. How We Use Information

We use information only to:

• Provide scanning features

• Generate PDFs

• Edit documents

• Synchronize files across devices

• Provide AI OCR

• Improve application performance

• Detect crashes

• Display advertisements

• Prevent misuse of our services

5. Third-Party Services

XScanner uses trusted third-party services, including:

• Google Play Services

• Firebase Authentication

• Firebase Storage

• Firebase Analytics

• Firebase Crashlytics

• Google AdMob

• Google Gemini API

Each provider processes data according to its own Privacy Policy.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS/TLS encryption

• Secure Firebase infrastructure

• Authentication for cloud access

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure.

7. Data Retention

Local files remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Files uploaded to XCloud remain stored until:

• You delete them,

• You delete your account, or

• They are removed in accordance with our service policies.

8. Children's Privacy

XScanner is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it as soon as reasonably possible.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your information.

You may:

• Use XScanner without creating an account.

• Choose whether to upload files to XCloud.

• Delete your local files at any time.

• Delete files stored in XCloud.

• Revoke app permissions through your Android device settings.

• Request deletion of your account and associated cloud data by contacting us.

10. Advertising

The free version of XScanner displays advertisements using Google AdMob.

AdMob may collect certain device identifiers and usage information to provide and measure personalized or non-personalized advertisements, subject to your region and applicable laws.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements.

Updated versions will be posted on our official Privacy Policy page, and the "Last Updated" date will be revised accordingly.
