Privacy Policy — RS Music Player
Last updated: September 3, 2026
RS Music Player ("the app," "we," "our") is an offline music player for playing audio files stored on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it's used, and the choices you have. No account or login is required to use the app.
Information the App Accesses
RS Music Player lets you choose how it accesses your music:
All Music on Device — the app requests audio-file access permission and shows every audio file already known to your device.
Select Music Folders — instead of device-wide access, you pick specific folders yourself using Android's built-in folder picker (Storage Access Framework). The app is then granted access only to the folders you chose. This access is remembered so you don't have to pick the folders again, and you can change or remove this folder access at any time from the app's menu.
The app may also request:
Notification permission, where required by Android, to show playback controls and the now-playing notification.
Modify system settings permission, only if and when you choose to set a song as your device ringtone, and only for that specific action.
The app does not upload your music files, song contents, picked folders, background image, or Recycle Bin files to our servers.
Data Collection
RS Music Player does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information with us or with third parties. The app does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking services.
The app does not intentionally collect your name, phone number, email address, contacts, passwords, payment information, or personal profile information.
Music and Local Files
Music files are accessed only to provide the app's functionality: playback, renaming, sharing, setting a song as a ringtone, and — for folders you've picked yourself — browsing and managing files through the app's in-app file browser. Your music files and their contents remain on your device and are not intentionally uploaded by the app.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app may store the following locally, on your device only:
The last-played song and playback position, so playback can resume where you left off.
Your chosen music-access mode (device-wide or specific folders) and any folders you've picked.
Your shake-to-change-song preference.
A background image you've chosen for the song list.
Deleted songs and the Recycle Bin: When you delete a song from the app's main song list, the app may temporarily keep the deleted file in its local Recycle Bin so it can be recovered. Recycle Bin items are normally retained for up to 7 days and may be permanently removed earlier if you clear the Recycle Bin.
This Recycle Bin applies only to songs deleted from the main song list. Files deleted through the app's in-app file browser (available when you've picked folders yourself) are deleted permanently and immediately — they do not go through the Recycle Bin. The app clearly warns you about this before such a deletion.
Recycle Bin and Encryption
Deleted files stored in the Recycle Bin are protected using Android's encryption facilities, intended to protect locally stored deleted files on your device.
We do not guarantee that a deleted or encrypted file can always be recovered. If recovery is unsuccessful or the required encryption information becomes unavailable, the file may not be decryptable or recoverable. You are responsible for keeping your own copies or backups of important files before deleting them.
After the applicable retention period, or when the Recycle Bin is cleared, deleted files may be permanently removed and may no longer be recoverable through the app.
Permissions
RS Music Player requests only the permissions required for its functionality:
Audio-file access — if you choose device-wide music access.
Folder access — for folders you specifically pick, if you choose that option.
Notification permission — for playback controls and the now-playing notification.
Modify system settings — only when you choose to set a song as a ringtone, and only for that action.
You can review or revoke permissions, change your chosen music-access mode, or change/remove picked folders at any time through the app's menu or your device's Settings app.
Data Security
The app keeps its locally stored app data on your device and uses Android's built-in security features where applicable. However, no electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure or permanently recoverable.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users. No account or personal profile is required to use the app.
Data Deletion
RS Music Player does not require you to create an account, so there is no account or account-deletion feature. You can manage or remove locally stored app data — including picked folder access, the background image, and shake preferences — through the app where available, or through your device's Settings app. Your music files always remain under your control on the device.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app's features or applicable legal requirements change. The latest version will always be available on this page and within the app.
