The Red River Valley Local Section of the American Chemical Society (RRV-ACS) celebrates National Chemistry Week 2026 with a series of events across the section bringing together chemists of all ages to celebrate the power of chemistry.

What is NCW?
National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a public awareness campaign that promotes the value of chemistry in everyday life. ACS members and chemistry enthusiasts celebrate NCW by coordinating events and communicating the importance of chemistry. National Chemistry Week is celebrated this year during the week of October 17-24, with the theme “Chemistry Under Construction.”

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is one of the world's largest scientific societies, supporting research, education, policy, and industry across the globe. Within the US, Local Sections are regional community group that connects chemists, chemical engineers, and science educators within a specific geographic area. The Red River Valley Local Section spans from Bemidji to all of North Dakota connecting chemists within the region
National Chemistry Week Event Schedule

Calling all young scientists! Kick off National Chemistry Week with an action-packed day of experimenting, exploring and discovering at The Lab 2026! Grab your goggles and get ready to experiment, explore and discover through a variety of fun-filled activities. Best of all, this exciting day of science is completely FREE!

University of Jamestown Campus, Jamestown ND (11 - noon and 1 - 2:30 pm)
Come take part in some amazing chemistry hands-on activities with separate sessions for elementary students and middle/high schoolers. Pre-registration required.

We'll be appearing at the Girl Scout BIG Event to wrap up our NCW trip. At BIG Event, families will explore hands-on activities, exciting experiments, and interactive exhibits led by community partners and STEM professionals. \
Volunteering at the RRV-ACS NCW Events
Volunteering at the RRV-ACS NCW Events
Members of the RRV-ACS are encouraged to get involved and volunteer at these events. A Google form is linked below for volunteers and you may volunteer at as many as you want. If we get enough volunteers, we may split the Fargo event into two sessions and you only need volunteer for 1/2 the time if desired. All supplies and training will be provided.
