Independence Day in India occurs on August 15 of every year. It celebrates the date in 1947 when the Indian Independence Act came into effect, which established India and Pakistan as separate countries, no longer under British imperialist rule.

Independence Day is significant as it commemorates the valour and spirit of the freedom fighters who fought for the independence of the nation from British rule. The day is recognised as that of national pride and honour, with Prime Ministers hoisting the flag and addressing the country from the Red Fort every year. India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day on August 15 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the national flag at the majestic Red Fort and addressing the nation. ... Independence Day is a reminder of all the sacrifices of India's freedom fighters to make the dream of a free nation a reality.

Also, it teaches everyone to know the importance of Independence. Independence Day keeps the memories of the fighters' struggle for freedom alive in our minds. Also, it allows everyone to value our future, hard-attained freedom and communal harmony by each passing year.
