News about solutions, patches and RRPLD will be posted here.
Due to a recent change to the DMA, students with PLDs that runs Windows can no longer use the 'run' shortcut to run programs, open files and execute certain commands which used to work by pressing the 'Windows' key + 'R' simultaneously. This prompted, dj, a user on the official RRPLD Discord server, to create a VBS script called 'SPRINT', a substitute for 'run', that allows users to do exactly what the official 'run' shortcut did. Download the .vbs file by clicking here.
Download this .vbs file and run it at 10:54PM to bypass the usage restriction which forcefully shutdowns your PLD at 11PM. If it does not work, follow the steps below:
1) Right-click on your Desktop (Home Screen), then click on 'New', then select 'Text Document'.
2) Copy and paste this string of text in the 'Notepad' windows that appears:
Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Sub RunCommand()
' Run the "shutdown /a" command to abort shutdown
objShell.Run "shutdown /a", 0, False
End Sub
Sub RepeatCommand()
' Run the command initially
RunCommand
' Repeat the command every 1s
Do
' Sleep for 1s (1,000 milliseconds)
WScript.Sleep 1000
' Run the command again
RunCommand
Loop
End Sub
' Start repeating the command
RepeatCommand
3) Save the file before renaming the file extension to .vbs (the original file extension should be .txt). If you can't see the file extension, open 'File Explorer' before selecting the 'View' tab and clicking on 'File name extensions' in the 'Show/Hide' section.
4) Run the .vbs file at 10:55PM whenever you want to use your PLD after 11PM.
If both of the methods above do not work, join the RRPLD Discord server to seek help.
For those that can't do Full DMA Bypass, an alternative option is to activate the student USER account. The student USER account allows you to download/run any programs/applications after school hours. To activate this account, press the 'Windows' key + 'L' before clicking on 'Other User' in the bottom left corner. Key in the following details:
Username: .\student
(Leave the 'Password' field blank)
If the sign-in worked, you will be prompted to change the password as this would be your first time logging in. After doing so, Windows will set up the student USER account and you will be able to download/run any programs/applications after school hours.
