The Environmental Leadership Program is a two term course at the University of Oregon. The first term involves learning skills to be a reliable leader as well as learning what makes a good lesson. We created lesson plans for students from Kindergarten through third grade at a local elementary school. The second term involved putting our plans into action as we lead all of the field trips and reflected on who we were as leaders and educators. Restoring Connections was the name of the program within Environmental Leadership Program that I was a part of. It involved getting students outside and the benefits of outdoor learning. We had a total of 241 students do our program and of those I was personally responsible for the outdoor education of 31 kindergarteners and second graders.
