Welcome to my website....

I am R. Prakash  from Erode, Tamil Nadu, India.

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India.  I completed my postdocs from Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) in 2018 and 2019 respectively. I received my Ph.D degree in Applied Mechanics from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai in 2015. My Master’s degree in Engineering Design from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai in 2010. My Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, in 2005.

I have seven years of research experience and six years of teaching experience. My current research interests include Mechanics of Composite Structures, Condition Monitoring of Rotating Machines, Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Vibration and Structural Health Monitoring. I have published in several reputed journals such as Journal of Sound Vibration, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Composite Structures, Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, Acta Mechanica, Strain, Structural Engineering and Mechanics and also published a couple of book chapters with Springer publishers. I have presented my research works in various international conferences across the world like USA, South Korea, Qatar. I have collaborated in various projects with renowned professors in the field of structural mechanics namely, Prof. Sivakumar M Srinivasan from IIT Madras, Prof. Sami EL-BORGI from TAMUQ, Prof. Michael I Friswell from Swansea University, UK, Prof. J.N. Reddy and Prof.  Dimitris C. Lagoudas from Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA, 

My hobbies are listening news & musics, walking at NITT Campus, doing exercise and yoga, cooking new dishes, driving car for long distance, playing with my kids.
