From September 2014 to December 2015 I was a member (pro bono) of the group of Economic Advisors to the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, with an office in Palazzo Chigi (the headquarters of the Italian Prime Minister) in Rome.

Although it is often reported that I was Commissioner to the Spending Review, I never had that title formally.

During that period, I produced numerous documents on numerous topics. Although there was nothing particularly top-secret in most of those documents, I cannot publish them here because they were internal documents (that sometimes used non-public data), produced for the Italian Prime Minister and the Minister of the Economy at the time, and I consider myself bound to a pledge of confidentiality with them.

Some of that work, however, has been the basis for large parts of my book Status Quo, published by Feltrinelli.
