Born in Jamaica, Roy Peart carried the vibrant spirit, cultural richness, and sense of community from his homeland throughout his life. After moving to Columbia, Maryland, Roy became an integral and cherished part of the community he called home.

For 20 years, he served at Howard Community College, where he was known not only for his strong work ethic but for the way he made people feel seen, valued, and supported. Students, faculty, and staff alike remember Roy for his kindness, joyful personality, and genuine interest in helping others succeed.

Roy had a lifelong love for the arts—music, dance, performance, and creative expression. He believed that artistic opportunities could open doors, heal hearts, and inspire confidence. He often encouraged young people to embrace their creativity, chase their dreams, and stay true to who they are.

The Roy Peart Scholarship Foundation was established to carry forward his legacy of compassion, opportunity, and artistic empowerment. Through scholarships, mentorship, and community arts programs, the foundation ensures that Roy’s influence continues to uplift and inspire future generations. His legacy lives on in every student who finds courage, creativity, and possibility through the support provided in his honor.
