Objectives:

  • Understand late Cenozoic vegetation and climate change of the Siwalik strata, Nepalese Himalayas.

  • Investigate sequence stratigraphy and depositional pattern of the fluvial Siwalik rocks along tectonic strike.

  • Understand the feedback loop, if any, between grassland expansion, monsoon intensification, and Himalayan uplift.

Dataset:

  • Compound-specific biomarker data of δ13C (vegetation proxy), δD (precipitation proxy) and brGDGTs (mean annual air temperature proxy); measured sections in outcrops.
