Get ready to dig into a summer full of stories and hands-on fun at the library! Our Summer Reading Program, Unearth a Story, begins June 18th and is packed with weekly events, reading challenges, and prizes. See below for more details!

Events are every Thursday at 1 PM

• June 18th: Make your own fossil - Create your very own fossils to take home using clay and other natural materials.

• June 25th: Planetarium Show: Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival - At the White River Valley High School gym. Full dome experience is shown in 360 degrees! First showing @ 1 PM. Second showing @ 2 PM. Registration required, seats are limited  (Register here)

• July 2nd: No event for week of July 4th. Take-home craft bags will be available.

• July 9th: Extinction Slime - Mix up your own prehistoric volcano eruption that turns into a fun slime you can keep! 

• July 16th: Dino Olympics - Compete in a series of dino-themed races and challenges. 

• July 23rd: Mystery Artifacts - Become a history detective as you examine mysterious objects from the past with help from the Vermont Historical Society. 

• July 30th: Design a Parade Float -  Design a Wizard of Oz themed parade float that you can ride on in the Old Home Days Parade.

• August 1st (Saturday): Walk in the Old Home Days Parade - Meet at the library at 9 AM.

• August 6th: Dino Dig - Grab your tools and excavate different fossils, gems, and geodes in this hands-on dinosaur dig adventure. 

• August 13th: Summer Reading Celebration - Celebrate the end of summer reading with pizza, prizes, and one final afternoon of fun at the library.

Kids Reading Challenge:

Kids’ reading logs will be available at the library starting June 18th!
For every 15 minutes you read, add one sticker to your log.

Every time you collect 10 stickers, bring your log to the library to earn one raffle entry for a chance to win awesome prizes. The more you read, the more raffle entries you can earn!

All participants will also get to choose a special participation prize at our Summer Reading Celebration on August 13th.

Adult Reading Challenge:

Pick up a bingo card at the library beginning on June 18th! For every book you read, cross off one square on your bingo card. Each bingo you complete earns you an entry into our prize raffle!

Complete the entire bingo card and you’ll receive an additional 10 raffle entries for even more chances to win.

Prizes include gift cards to Dandelion Acres, First Branch Coffee, K&P Restaurant, Cockadoodle Pizza, and Ace Hardware!

The challenge ends on August 13th (last day for raffle entries). Stop by our Summer Reading Celebration to hear the raffle winners.
