Royal silk lap companions has been breeding puppies for over 2 decades and it not a job to us. Breeding is a passion. We put heart soul and often 14 hours a day into raising our Cavaliers and, other special lap puppies that are healthy and properly socialized.
We are absolutely certain that early superior nutrition both with pregnant moms and while nursing is the thing that sets our pups apart from the rest. We raise dairy goats so that we can make goat cheese for our moms while nursing. Therefore, the first 5 weeks of every pup's life that I breed parent is eating goat cheese that is produced from the milk that I get every morning. Our goats are social animals that interact well with the dogs or the doe is not retained in our program. We often have extra goats available for purchase or even just adoption especially during kidding season as we prefer to adopt out our kids to be bottle raised so that the baby goat is also part of a family and we have the milk from the beginning of the mom's lactation for making cheese for our mother dogs and our morning coffee. We also raise a calf each season with extra goat milk so that we have organic grass fed beef for ourselves to eat and for the mother dogs. You will smell liver cooking in my kitchen when a mom goes into labor. All puppies are whelped or born in a room that is attached to my bedroom without windows and houses 2 large fish tanks for a calming ambiance. The moms are given the option to deliver on a futon that is covered with a waterproof blanket ;or in a traditional whelping baby swimming pool. I personally, or sometimes one of my competent helpers assist each puppy with coming into this world by ensuring that he or she is dry and breathing well and returned to his or her mother on a heating pad. As the puppies grow and develop they are moved to larger spaces. At approximately 5 weeks of age the pups start eating kibble and are introduced to a litter box for potty training. We use both the traditional pine litter pellets in our boxes and cedar shavings so that your pup will be able to use a litter box if so desired or transition to grass using the cedar shavings outdoor. We make every attempt to help the adoption time to be smooth and simple for both new puppy parents and the puppies themselves.
We do use puppy culture in our socialization but have been breeding long before such things were even an option and believe that there is in no substitute for daily hands-on love and affection and being introduced to children, our Ragdoll cat MRI, and also larger breed dogs.
