Grease Trap & Interceptor Cleaning Services
Grease Traps and Interceptors are used to prevent Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) from making their way through the municipal sewer and to the water treatment plant. It is important to have properly trained and certified technicians handle the cleaning of these traps and interceptors on a regularly-scheduled basis. This prevents odors, blockages, and overflows. Our grease trap and interceptor pumping and cleaning service will maintain a properly-functioning unit with no surprises, preventing unwanted regulatory inspections.
How Does a Grease Trap Work?
A Grease Trap or Interceptor is placed in-between floor drains, sink drains, dishwashers, or any source wastewater flow that feed municipal waste lines. Their job is to remove or "trap" the FOG in the first compartment of the trap, and have "clean" water continue on to the treatment facility. Since fats, oils, and grease are less dense than water, they float on the top and get trapped. The solid particles are heavier, or denser than water, and sink to the bottom. Over time, the FOG layer and solids layer build up, causing blockages and overflows, allowing FOG to drain out to the wastewater treatment facility. Regularly-scheduled service prevents this from occurring by maintaining the FOG and solid levels.
