The world rowing federation (WR) which was previously called the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA) which came from a French origin. It is empowered by the by the 156 members of the national rowing federations and it sets the rules for the sport. It also oversees the events and gets it sanctioned and provides advice on what to do for the event.
One of the major issues facing this sport is the lack of accessibility to do this sport competitively and even just for fun. one the reasons is perceptions that only elitist are the only ones that play this sport. People think this because of the cost its to play this sport and its hard to be accessible to it because some people may not even have rivers or lakes to train in this sport. For this we need to have the world rowing organization needs to find ways to make this sport accessible whether its making facilities that simulate a river to train or making the cost of the equipment more affordable.

In the United States, it is a growing sport so it does not have much public or government support compared to like basketball or gold. However, the U.S. organization is trying to do things to were more younger audience are exposed to support and have the opportunity to do this sport. They organization wants to specifically target the lower income communities and this could help create public support and eventually the government could could pitch in and help this sport grow.
Some celebrations that the winning crew might do is dive into the water, have their medal ceremony, painting the new recuits faces with their team colors.
Some traditions rowing clubs do it have a team dinner called pasta night before the competition to help promote the team bonding.
When it comes to media coverage, it has grown overtime with channels only catering to rowing sports and it now being in roku tv it can get more eyes into this sport. Another that is helping it is social media, if it keeps it up it can keep expanding with getting amazing clips of this sport. It'll also be seen on NBC and other big channel networks when the the olympics come around as well. So as of right now it able to get alot opportunities for people to watch this sport.
Formal norms: Its always held in 6 lanes and the race distance is usually around 2,000 kilometers, and the noraml ager are people appraoching the age of 21 or are 21 of that current year. If you do intend on switching lanes make sure to not hit the other rowers.
Informal norms: Informal races involve more shorter races, having unisuits on during competition, and making sure that the boat is not ruined
Anyone can physically do this sport as long as they are fit, have a strong core, and have a lot of stamina. This however, is just the minimum because sadly this is costly sport. Many people might not get the opportunity to do this sport of the amount cost from the boats to the rowing equipment. It also doesn't help that you have to have a body of water near to help train you correctly.
The equipment has gotten more advance with things like sensors to help track the rowers performance, more lighter fast boats using carbon fiber, and better safety equipment's on the boat.
Back in the day, this sport was seen as more elitism and only the privileged were the only ones able to this sport. However, in recent time organizations has made it a mission to to have more people of different background to have the opportunity to try this sport.
In the past it was just a regular wooden boat with regular old wooden paddels to use. The basis of the sport hasn't changed but the elevation of techonlogy of this sport has drastically gotten more advance.
