How to Set Up a Network Router ?
Choose a convenient location or wide area to choose for installing up your router.
Plug in your router with electrical power source and then turn on your router by pushing power button.
Connect your internet modem to router. Many internet modems connect via Ethernet cable or usb cables depends on company.
When connecting devices with network cables, be sure each end of the cable connects tightly. Loose cables are one of the most common sources of network setup problems.
Wait at least 30 to 60 seconds and make sure the lights on the routers are working properly.
Connect your computer with a router.
Open the router's administration console. From the computer connected to the router, open a web browser.
Next, Enter your router IP address in the web address bar. You can find your Router IP address at the back of your router, if not, type 192.168.1.1, a common router address, into the browser search bar.
Then the router page will show you user name and password. Most routers come with preset Wi-Fi usernames and passwords. Both will be provided to you in the documentation. You should change admin and password of the router for the security reasons but after the installation in completed.
Consider changing the network name (Otherwise known as SSID). Routers come from the manufacturer with a default name chosen, but there are advantages to using a different name instead.
Verify the local network connection between your computer and the router is working. To do this, check that the computer has received valid IP address information from the router.
Verify your computer can connect to the internet properly. Open a web browser and visit a few internet sites.
Finally, place the router in an optimal location. Prefered near to your working area.
