Privacy Policy: Router Manager
Last updated: 24 September 2026
Router Manager ("the app") is an unofficial tool for managing Huawei ONT routers over your local network. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by Huawei.
This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the app has no server, no account system, and no analytics. Nothing you enter leaves your device or your local network. The only internet connection is the optional Speed Test, described below.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored only on your device. None of it is transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
Router admin username and password. Used to sign in to your router so the app can manage it. Stored in Android's encrypted secure storage, which is protected by the Android Keystore.
Router IP address. Used to reach your router on the local network. Stored in app preferences on your device.
Known device list (names, MAC addresses). Used to detect when a new device joins your Wi-Fi and alert you. Stored in app preferences on your device.
Wi-Fi data usage history. Used to show daily, weekly and monthly usage charts. Stored in app preferences on your device.
App settings (theme, alert preferences). Used to remember your choices. Stored in app preferences on your device.
Network connections the app makes
The app talks to your own router over your local network (for example http://192.168.100.1). This connection uses plain HTTP because that is what the router's own web interface provides. It never leaves your local network.
The only internet connection the app makes is the Speed Test screen, and only when you start a test yourself. The test downloads and uploads blocks of random test data to Cloudflare's public speed-test service (speed.cloudflare.com) to measure your connection speed. None of your personal data, router settings, credentials or device list is sent. As with any internet connection, Cloudflare can see your public IP address while the test runs. How Cloudflare handles that is covered by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
The app makes no other internet connections, and none to the developer or to any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service. It contains no advertising SDK and no tracking SDK.
Permissions and why they are needed
Internet, network state and Wi-Fi state. Used to reach your router on the local network and detect which network you are on.
Usage access. Optional. Used only to calculate your Wi-Fi data usage totals on your device, because this router's firmware does not track usage itself. This data is read on your device, shown to you, and never transmitted. The app works without this permission. Only the Network Statistics screen is affected.
Notifications. Used to alert you when a new device joins your network.
Foreground service, wake lock and boot completed. Optional. Used only if you turn on new-device monitoring, so the check can continue while the app is closed. This service polls your router only.
Ignore battery optimizations. Optional. The app only asks for it through Android's own dialog. Without it, some phone makers stop the background new-device checks from running.
You can decline any of the optional permissions and continue using the app.
Data sharing and selling
The developer does not collect, receive, share, or sell any of your data. There is no back end to send it to.
Children
The app is a network administration utility and is not directed at children.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored, including saved router credentials. You can also clear it at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Router Manager → Storage → Clear data.
