January & February 2024
Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America, begun in 1985 by the Greater Saint Louis Area Council. The program involves collecting for local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan and do a good turn daily.
Troop 1717 is collecting food on behalf of our local North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC), who provides food assistance to individuals and families in the North Fulton community, and serves over 125 households on a regular basis.
As a member of Troop 1717, we invite you to collect food items from within your neighborhood or subdivision, and bring these to a Troop Meeting. You can use Facebook or Nextdoor to let me people know electronically, or print flyers to put in mailboxes, or go door to door and just speak to your friends and neighbors. You can organize picking goods up, or having them deliver them to your house. It's up to you, but it doesn't have to be difficult or a big effort.
