Welcome to the Aviation Nerds and Geeks section of Ross Rambles. In March/April 2024, we visited New Zealand's glorious South Island (see this link), and we also managed to have this coincide with the Warbirds over Wanaka Air Show that usually happens every second year at Easter. However, due to a certain global pandemic, it hadn't been on for six years, so we were looking forward to a really good performance. We weren't disappointed.
Along with the Wanaka show, we also visited a number of other aviation and car museums, which I'll include here so as not to bore the socks off those gentle souls who have no interest in the finer points of flying and/or driving.
These are grouped as follows:
Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre at Blenheim
E Hayes Motorworks Collection, at Invercargill (Motor Cycles - home of 'The World's Fastest Indian')
Photographic kit used in these sections:-
Canon R6 MkII
Lenses:
Canon RF 24-240mm
Tamron EF 70-300mm
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra ('The best camera is the one in your hand at the time')
13mm f/2.2
70mm f/2.4
230mm f/4.9
(Lenses are measured as 35mm equivalent)
