My Story

My teaching business is built on the idea that modern golf instruction has become stagnant and relatively ineffective. Most golf instruction resides on learning from a flat range mat for 45-60 minutes and then the golfer hopes to be able to translate it to the course. Do the following frustrations sound familiar?

I hit it great on the range but never on the course!

I've had lessons from 5 different teachers and got worse every time!

I tried to change my swing and it got worse!

I've been practicing more but haven't improved.

I have 1-3 big blow up holes per round.

I am terrible on the first tee box!

I feel like I should be shooting lower scores but I'm not!

Your issues are not unique, they are actually common amongst every golfer. All golfers make the same mistakes, the frequency of those mistakes determines what you shoot. Typically, when you are sick of these issues, you take a lesson on the driving range, addressing your golf swing. Maybe 1 more lesson a few weeks later. These are the issues with standard golf instruction:

Problem: Learning from a flat range mat does not simulate a round of golf. Lie adjustments are made almost every hole when you play a round of golf.

My solution: I do 60% of all my teaching on the golf course.

Problem: Learning 1 on 1 does not simulate playing with 2-3 other golfers. No other sport teaches their players only in 1 on 1 settings and then hopes they play well in the game. Only golf does this.

My solution: I teach the majority of my students in small group settings, simulating real golf situations for them to practice in front of each other and to compete against each other.

Problem: Teachers are not seeing their students play golf, rather they take the students word for it at the range. What if sports recruiting worked like that? "Trust me, Coach, I'm a great 3-point shooter." Meanwhile the player cannot make a shot from 2 feet or dribble the ball, yet those issue are never addressed.

My solution: I take all my students on course for a player assessment before doing individual coaching. If I witness a golfer taking 45 putts for 18 holes and then asking me to help them gain 15 yards off the tee to shoot lower scores, I don't mince words. I'm very honest about what it will take for each golfer to shoot lower scores in the short term and the long run. I'm a coach with a goal to help you shoot lower scores.

Problem: No accountability system. Typically you don't speak to your teacher again until the next lesson.

My solution: I give golfers a full course management accountability system. My program golfers have committed the appropriate time for improvement and have access to my input daily through my Coaching app where they can post scorecards for my review. We use a unique stat tracking system that helps golfers understand their problem areas and their strengths. This system will take shots off your game without any practice when you see the trends of where you're losing shots.

I work with a very small number of students and commit my time and energy to them instead of working with too many golfers at once. The key to my success with students is seeing them play golf and playing golf with them.

I had 100+ students I was teaching at one point, mostly individual swing lessons at the range. I couldn't tell you how many were improving drastically because it was always me taking their word for what happened and why it happened. When I started playing golf with all my students, it was clear that the story they were telling me vs. what was happening was polar opposite. Not just one golfer; every golfer.

It was then that I started incorporating playing lessons with all my students and that's when my students started seeing real, score-oriented results. After a while, I decided the playing lessons would become the vast majority of what I would teach, along with a course management system, short game system, and a practice system that focuses on bringing practice results to the golf course. This is how I guarantee results inside my programs. I don't shy away from what holds you back as a golfer, I address the issues so that we can improve.
