Dr. Roshith P M.Tech, PhD, (MBA)
Assistant Professor
Dr. Roshith P. is an Assistant Professor in Manufacturing and Materials Science Engineering with over five years of teaching experience, more than seven years of research engagement, and significant industrial experience in applied manufacturing processes. He earned his PhD in Manufacturing and Materials Science from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, after completing an MTech in Engineering Design at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Coimbatore) and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University (Chennai). He is also currently pursuing an MBA in Human Resource Management (HRM) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. His academic and professional background spans university teaching, collaborative research, and hands-on industry practice.
His research focuses on welding and joining technologies for dissimilar metals, additive manufacturing, the hot-corrosion behaviour of thermal-barrier coatings in aggressive environments, surface-engineering techniques such as Laser Shock Peening and shot peening, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in manufacturing for process monitoring and optimisation. Dr. Roshith has held academic appointments and research roles at several institutions and applies his industrial experience to bridge the gap between theoretical research and real-world manufacturing applications; he actively seeks collaborative projects and postgraduate candidates for supervision.
Teaching Experience (5.2 years)
He has previously served as an assistant professor and hostel warden at Asan Memorial College of Engineering and Technology in Chengalpattu.
He has taught subjects such as Manufacturing Processes, Engineering Mechanics, Manufacturing Technology, Thermal Engineering, Engineering Materials and Metallurgy, Unconventional Machining Processes, Manufacturing Technology Laboratory, and Engineering Practices Lab to undergraduate students.
He has started clubs, such as the chess club and nature club.

Research Experience (7.25 years)
While pursuing a PhD in manufacturing technology, he collaborated with Dr Srinivasan A (Senior Scientist at CSIR, National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science, Thiruvananthapuram, India), Dr. Ram Prabhu T (Deputy Director / Scientist, Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification, DRDO) and Dr. T. Ramesh (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT, Tiruchirappalli) on research projects focused on PCGTAW and CO2 LB welding, as well as hot corrosion on specimens.
Additionally, he extensively worked in the field of Metallurgy and Metal Joining, as a part of his final year M.Tech project. He collaborated with prominent Indian scientists Dr. G. Padmanabham and Shri. K V. Phani Prabhakar of the Centre for Laser Processing of Materials, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Balapur, Hyderabad, India, on research related to metal joining through laser welding.
Industrial Experience
He was employed as an Applied Researcher: Special Manufacturing Process at Paninion India Pvt Ltd from 15/5/2023 to 19/7/2023.
Learned the 3D Experience (CATIA) software from TANCAM (Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing).
Visited TAMCOE (Tamil Nadu Advance Manufacturing Centre of Excellence) and learned about the additive manufacturing instrument and its characterization.
Identified the usage of LSP and TBC coating on additively manufactured aero engine parts and focused on the application of forging and casting in the gas turbine engine components.
He worked as a Graduate Apprentice Trainee at Neyveli Lignite Corporation Mine 2 (NLC) from 29 January 2017 to 15 July 2017.
He worked in the conveyor zone, the Mech zone, and the SME zone, where he learned about conveyor belt clamp issues.
He completed a one-week inplant training at Southern Railway (Erode) from 10/6/2013 to 15/6/2013, where he learned about troubleshooting issues related to train components .

EVENTS ORGANIZED
Organized the first Tamil Nadu state-level children's chess tournament at Asan Memorial College of Engineering and Technology (AMCET), Chengalpattu, in collaboration with Sri Raghavendra Chess Academy, Chengalpattu, on 9/6/2024.
