Re-Opening Rosewood
(Letter from Rosewood CEO Tammy Hammond)

Dear Concerned Parents, Guardians, and Family Members,

The time has arrived for Rosewood to begin Reopening!

I am sure this is something which is looked forward to…and feared, at the same time. I understand that, because that is how I feel. So I want to share just a few thoughts as we head into this new time.

I am thankful for the support you have all shown during this quarantine period. We were able, thus far, to have all clients and staff remain safe and healthy from the COVID-19 Virus. We do not want that to change.

We are taking into consideration direct guidance received from Center for Disease CDC through the State of Kansas. As we do this, the possibility exists that we may handle some of the reopening phases differently than you may chose, but hopefully you can continue to be patient with the process, and trust we will do everything possible to both allow things to become more normal, but at the same time, continue to do the best we can to protect your loved ones.

We will share more details as available, but beginning on Monday June 1st, we began phasing more normal activities into the daily routines. We will closely monitor all activities, staff, and visitors, and make changes as available and necessary to keep moving forward safely.

In closing, I’ve attached some of our Health and Safety Assurance Guidelines. As you make plans to visit your loved one, we ask that you please review the visitors section of the attachment.

Thank you for your understanding and patience,

Thank You,

Executive Director

Health and Safety Assurance Guidelines:

On June 1st, Rosewood initiated the Reopening of all Day-habilitation locations with limited number of individuals. We take the threat of COVID‐19 very seriously and have taken proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff. Our commitment is to protect our residents and employees to keep them safe and healthy.

Notable actions include but are not limited to:

Aggressive Visitor Limitations & Screenings. We are following the guidance of the Center for Disease Control and Centers of Medicaid and Medicare and our Local Health Department and have implemented visitor restrictions and screens for staff and essential visitors. It is essential that anyone who potentially carries the virus does not enter our facility.

Every Rosewood facility has clear and concise postings regarding the limitations on visitors and the required COVID-19 screenings including taking all employees and essential visitors’ temperatures. These screening and temperatures are documented on screening logs. The screening uses the following questions:

1. To your knowledge, have you had contact with any Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, OR with anyone with known COVID- 19?; and

2. Do you have any symptoms of a respiratory infection (e.g., cough, sore throat, fever, or shortness of breath)?

• If the visitor answers “No” to all questions, the visit will continue. The visitor will be asked to take into consideration any heightened risk factors of the person being visited or others in the home.

• We ask the visit take place outside, if possible, for maintaining 6 feet social distancing. If social distancing is not possible, we ask the visitor wear a face-mask.

• If the visit takes place in the home, we ask the visitor to wear a face-mask, and to exercise their visit in a contained area, such as a single bedroom, to the extent possible.

Safety On-Site: Staff working on-site are required to abide by the check-in and screening/temping process noted above. Staff are now required to wear facial masks provided by Rosewood during times at which they work directly with the individuals. The staff are required to continue all of their regular day-to-day activities, ensuring that the individuals health and safety is their first priority.

Additionally, in Day locations, we have implemented rotating schedules to reduce the number of people in a single location and to separate individuals in common areas as much as possible.

Supplies (Personal Protective Equipment): Rosewood has gone to great lengths to ensure that each home and day location has adequate supplies in place in order to keep the individuals and employees safe and guarded in the event that a positive COVID-19 case is identified. In the face of international shortages, Rosewood has been able to source gloves, masks, gowns, and thermometers, all of which will be deployed immediately if required.

Rosewood already provides all employees with facial masks to wear during direct contact with the individuals and/or while working at Rosewood homes and Day facilities.

Disinfection Protocols: Trained employees administer specific disinfection protocols in all Rosewood facilities as required, and are prepared to respond to any positive

COVID-19 case that may be identified. We are ensuring that they apply standards and rigor to make sure all the facilities are as dis-infected as possible.
