I was born a dreamer. A kid with heightened senses, a vivid imagination, and a wide-eyed awareness. Growing up in an expressive, often intense Italian family was an education in the understanding and resiliency of the human spirit. Perhaps this is why I’ve been told I’m a good listener, because I enjoy unraveling what motivates people’s emotions and behaviors.
These and my passion for cooking, painting and drawing, and gardening are the dynamics I bring to my writing. After learning the Italian Renaissance painter’s concept of la sprezzatura in undergraduate and graduate universities, a seemingly effortless style that veiled exacting skill and knowledge, I enjoy challenging myself by applying this methodology in each of my creative endeavors. It keeps me learning and growing and has become an enriching and humbling lifelong journey.
