I’ve worn out my stay
My color’s not as bright as when I first came off that shelf
Feeling baggy & curling at the cuffs
But I’m in the back seat of the car when the time gets tough
That first few months it was a honeymoon
Matching me with favorite scarves and shoes
We were unstoppable, anything was possible
When we walked into the room
Everyone would take their time to swoon
They would stop and stare over at this beautiful pair
Flipping through magazines
Checking out the next new thing
They say that summer is coming
And it’s time to get over that spring fling
I’ve worn out my stay
My color’s not as bright as when I first came off the shelf
Feeling baggy & curling at the cuffs
When will she say “enough is enough"
So I’ve been tossed in the giveaway bag
I hope someone will want me though I’m second hand
I might come back in style, though it may take awhile
Maybe cause I’m not stained or good things are too hard to throw away
So far my fate is not the garbage can
End of the week
All her clothes are sitting on the floor
She remembers me, pulls me out and says
“Once more for the good old times”
So she wore me to the diner on Saturday morning
Topping off the coffee the waitress said she has one just like me
Says she keeps it in her car when the storms hit without warning
Said its comfort is weaved in the memories
Yes its comfort is weaved in the memories
End of the week
All her clothes are sitting on the floor
She remembers me and says
“I’m keeping you with me for the good old times”
I’ve worn out my stay,
My color’s not as bright as when I first came off the shelf
Feeling baggy & I'm curling at the cuffs
But I’m in the back seat of the car when times get tough
Yes I’m in the back seat of the car when times get tough
You can find me in that back seat when times get tough
