Sundays in Laval

words and music by Rosemarie Austin

On a crisp autumn day you walk where you please

As you stare at Avesnieres past the gold line of trees

Sundays in Laval are for catching up

A long conversation and a deep coffee cup

Extra sugar

I'm writing a post to the ones I love the most

A little snapshot of the town

Just sayin' I wish you were around

Twenty grams to send it over to the Pacific coast

And the first thing you may sight is the castle on your right

Built about a thousand years ago

Let me say before you cower at the sight of such a tower

Well it takes away your fear of heights

Wish you hadn't any sight

No they don't make anything like it on the Pacific coast

And in the center of the photo is the river Mayenne

It'll make you fall in love all over again

With your lover by your side & a warm baguette

Will make you forget about

All the quarrels & cares

The poisonous words the snarls & snares

Take a picnic on the shore

Catch your reflection

The water is the same, though you're miles & miles from home

You're just in a different frame of place

And you're enjoying this new space

Sundays in Laval are for catching up

A long conversation and a deep coffee cup

Have you been sitting this whole time

Just wanting to stand up?

Well let's take a walk along the Mayenne

Pass that fortress once again

On a crisp autumn day you walk where you please

As you stare at Avesnieres past the gold line of trees
