My Hand In Your Hand

My hand in your hand
That’s how it all began
Taking my first breath, opening my eyes
Smallest little wonder, born upon this night
My little hand in your hand
Little legs full of energy, risking all for independency
Toddler on the runway, taking my first steps
Though the gravel threatens to knock me on my chest
You’re my safety net, my hand in your hand
Car full of boxes, off to the sunshine state
Job offer in hand, sparkling gold dust in my pan
Though I’m miles away I’ll call you when I can
But it’s a big, long stretch for my hands
Pickin up a guitar, and then joining a band
Writing songs to express and understand
“Time is precious” you said “what’s your plan? ”
All I knew was the hand I was dealt was not your hand
Seasons and years pass, you grew quite ill
There wasn’t any remedy, no doctor’s skill
That could pull you through, and when I came close to stand
All I knew, was put my hand in your hand
All I could do, was put my hand in your hand
All I knew, was put my hand in your hand
