                                               Rosehall Village Risk Assessment

Background.

Rosehall Village Hall Committee carried out a health and safety risk assessment of Rosehall Village Hall to manage the risks to people who use the hall and are involved in its maintenance and upkeep. The committee does not have a legal requirement to record the findings of this risk assessment as fewer than 5 people work at the hall. Much of the repair work and maintenance is carried out by the committee, volunteers or by self employed contractors, the latter it is assumed have responsibility for their own health and safety. However, it was felt there are sound legal and business reasons to record the findings of the risk assessment, and make sure it is brought to the attention of all the committee, and those working or holding an event here.

How was the risk assessment carried out?

The risk assessment was carried out by the current booking secretary/caretaker and followed guidelines issued by the HSE in their “Checklist for Village and Community Halls” and example risk assessments.

To identify the hazards they:

1. Walked around the hall (inside and out) noting areas of risk.

2. Included areas of risk identified by previous hall hirers.

3. Followed guidance on HSE’s website.

Risk assessment was carried out stating the following:

1. Identify risk

2. Identify those who could be harmed

3. Controls and measures that could be put in place to reduce risk

4. Identify managers of these risk and action dates

5. Risk assessment was then shared to management committee

6. Risk assessment shared to any hirers of the hall and published on village hall

            website.

7. Risk assessment will be reviewed annually or immediately if any changes occur to the hall or how it is used.

Assessment carried out 1st September 2021

Next review date: Annually from original assessment in September.
