Our Morning Gathering, which includes yoga and meditation, will center around social-emotional development themes, such as empathy and growth mindset.

This gathering will emphasize a sense of community and belonging. We enjoy movement and song, as well as focusing on breathing, mindfulness, and body awareness. Our elementary students and their younger siblings will be together during this time as well as during snack time.

The Literacy work period will be primarily project-based, where our elementary students will be encouraged to explore the art of storytelling and hone their reading and writing skills as they develop their own interest-driven projects.

We will be rotating through the following themes during our Art/Engineering work period:

  • Process Art
  • Art Appreciation/ Artist Study
  • Handicrafts
  • Building Challenges

Lunch and morning snack will be provided by our amazing hosts at Shanti Mandir. All food served will be vegetarian, farm-to-table meals.

Our hosts are able to accommodate a range of dietary restrictions/needs.

For our elementary students, we suggest that each child bring a small healthy snack, such as a piece of fruit or a granola bar, to have in the afternoon. Please note that Shanti Mandir is a vegetarian facility. Out of respect for our hosts, we ask that our students refrain from bringing meat or egg products to eat on the property.

We will use the following resources for our nature lessons, paired with other relevant resources and the appropriate materials needed to explore concepts:

All of our elementary and preschool students will be spending time outside in all kinds of weather, including rain, snow, and cold temperatures.

We strongly suggest each child dress in clothing and gear that is appropriate for the weather. In the event of dangerous weather conditions (i.e. extremely high winds, low temps, thunderstorms, etc.), we will be able to move our activities indoors. Please reach out if you'd like suggestions for gear/clothing!
