About Me
Welcome to Roots Counseling, LLC. My name is Cristina Medrano. I was born and raised in Michoacán, Mexico until I was 12 years old. As a first generation student, I graduated Nampa High School in Nampa Idaho, completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Utah State University, and received my Master's degree in Counseling Education from Boise State University. I have been a School Counselor for 6 years, five in elementary, and one in middle school. I am also licensed to practice counseling as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in the state of Idaho.
I have experience working with kids and adolescents, and their families. I can speak Spanish, as it is my native language. I am here to be with you in your process of healing, of nourishing your inner self, and strengthening your roots.
Bienvenid@ a Roots Counseling, LLC. Mi nombre es Cristina Medrano. Nací y crecí en Michoacán, México hasta los 12 años. Como estudiante de primera generación, me gradué de Nampa High School en Nampa Idaho, completé mi licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad Estatal de Utah y recibí mi Maestría en Educación de Consejería de la Universidad Estatal de Boise. He sido consejera escolar durante 6 años, cinco en primaria y uno en secundaria. También tengo licencia para practicar consejería como LPC en el estado de Idaho.
Tengo experiencia trabajando con niños y adolescentes, y sus familias. Puedo hablar español, ya que es mi primer idioma. Estoy aquí para acompanarte en tu proceso de sanacion, de nutrir tu ser interior y fortalecer tus raíces.
My Therapy Approach /Mi Enfoque Terapéutico
I believe that you are the expert of your own life. Using a Person-Centered approach, my hope is to motivate and empower you in your own therapeutic process. I also believe that we carry stories that have shaped who we are. Using the Narrative Therapy approach, we use the power of these stories to help you grow, heal, and find peace. In combination with Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy, my approach uses solution focused therapy focusing on your personal strengths and the potential you have to find healing. As a bicultural therapist, I also understand the role culture plays in your experiences and therapeutic process.

Mi creencia es que tu eres el/la experto/a de tu propia vida. Usando un enfoque centrado en la persona, mi esperanza es motivarte y empoderarte en tu propio proceso terapéutico. También creo que llevamos historias que han dado forma a lo que somos. Usando el enfoque de terapia narrativa, usamos el poder de estas historias para ayudarte a crecer, sanar y encontrar la paz. En combinación con la terapia centrada en la persona y la terapia narrativa, mi enfoque utiliza la terapia centrada en la solución que se centra en tus fortalezas personales y el potencial que tienes para encontrar la curación. Como terapeuta bicultural, también entiendo el papel que juega la cultura en tus experiencias y proceso terapéutico.

Self-love group- $35 for a 2 hour session, 8 sessions total
