Rooster Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Rooster collects, why, and how you can control it.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect the email address and username you provide (or, for Google/Apple sign-in, the email associated with that account). We store your voting activity — the stocks you've picked, your direction (up/down), and when — along with basic app usage data like your streak and rank. If you set a profile photo, we store that image. We do not collect your location, contacts, or browsing activity outside the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use this information solely to operate the app: to create and secure your account, show your picks and streaks back to you, display aggregate (never individually attributed) community vote totals, and enforce unique usernames. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your picks or votes to build an advertising profile of you.

3. Third-Party Services

Rooster uses Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) to create accounts and store your data securely, and Google/Apple Sign-In if you choose those options. If Rooster displays ads, it uses Google AdMob, which may collect a device advertising identifier for ad delivery and, where you've given consent, ad personalization. Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy in addition to this one. Stock symbols and company names shown in the app come from a static list built into the app — no third-party market-data service is contacted to display or update them.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account information for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings — this removes your authentication record, profile, username reservation, and pick history from our systems immediately. Aggregate community vote totals (which are not linked to your identity) are not affected by account deletion, since they were never stored as personally identifiable in the first place.

5. Children's Privacy

Rooster is intended for users 18 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Your Choices

You can review and edit your profile information, delete your account, and (on iOS) control ad tracking permissions through your device's App Tracking Transparency settings at any time.

7. Security

We rely on Firebase's built-in security infrastructure (encryption in transit, access-controlled database rules) to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy, reflected by an updated "Last updated" notice.

By creating an account, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
