WELCOME TO THE ROOSEVELT AIR FORCE JROTC WEBSITE
JROTC stands for Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps and teaches young cadets how to become leaders in their community. AFJROTC is a full credit elective per year that places high value on the development of self discipline, character, integrity, and growing citizens of character.
Here you can find information about our unit, details about teams, classroom activities, and upcoming events!
First and foremost...We are not recruiters! We do not recruit for the Air Force or any branch of the military. There is no commitment to join the military if you take this class. We are like any other high school class in that we are an elective within the school. We focus on developing citizens of character and making students better community members, high school students, friends, brothers/sisters, and kids! We also are not drill instructors! We have routines the students follow, we have found these routines really help build a sense of responsibility, accountability, and character. We do learn marching and facing movements and learn some Air Force history. Quite often we are told this is a favorite class among students. We tend to use a lot of activities to enhance learning.
So far this school year our cadets have amassed over 600 community service hours by volunteering their after school/weekend time(s) to the SF Banquet, Hy-Vee Veterans Breakfast, local clean ups, and more! Volunteering is not a mandatory part of AFJROTC but it is highly encouraged to give back to the community and helps build citizens of character!
