roo+ Privacy Policy

roo+ (the “App”) is a Bible reading application with verse-level reading progress, a heatmap, optional YouVersion highlight synchronization, offline Bible content, and optional Google Drive backup. This Privacy Policy explains how roo+ accesses, uses, stores, and shares information.
1. Information roo+ handles
Reading and app data stored locally
roo+ stores information on your device or in your browser’s local storage so the App can work. This may include:
• the Bible translation you selected;
• verse identifiers and reading or visit counts used to build your heatmap;
• cached Bible indexes, passages, and offline Bible content;
• highlight-sync and offline-download progress;
• App preferences and backup status; and
• timestamps related to backups or local activity.
This information is not sent to a roo+ developer-operated server because roo+ does not currently operate its own user-account or analytics server.
Optional YouVersion connection
If you choose to connect YouVersion, roo+ uses YouVersion’s authorization service and API to:
• sign you in and maintain the authorized session;
• retrieve available Bible translations and Bible passages; and
• retrieve highlight information that you authorize roo+ to access.
roo+ may receive authorized account information made available through the requested OpenID profile and email scopes, together with OAuth access and refresh tokens. Authentication tokens are stored using secure device storage on Android. In the web version, the session is stored for the browser session. roo+ does not receive or store your YouVersion password.
Imported highlight identifiers are converted into local verse-level heatmap data. roo+ does not upload your local heatmap or reading counts to your YouVersion profile and does not modify your YouVersion highlights.
Your use of YouVersion is also governed by YouVersion’s own terms and privacy policy.
Optional Google Drive backup
Google Drive backup is off by default. If you turn it on, roo+ asks you to sign in with Google and authorize access to the App’s private Google Drive app-data folder.
The backup may contain:
• your selected Bible translation;
• verse identifiers and heatmap or reading counts;
• backup format and source information; and
• export and backup timestamps.
The backup does not include your YouVersion password, YouVersion authorization tokens, or cached Bible passage text. The backup is stored in your Google Drive account’s hidden app-data folder and is used only to back up and restore roo+ data across supported devices and browsers.
Google may provide roo+ with basic account information, such as your email address and display name, to show which Google account is connected. Your use of Google Sign-In and Google Drive is also governed by Google’s privacy policy.
2. How information is used
roo+ uses information only to:
• display Bible content;
• remember your selected translation and preferences;
• measure verse-level reading activity and generate your heatmap;
• cache or download content for offline reading;
• import authorized YouVersion highlights;
• manage API rate limits and resume incomplete operations;
• back up and restore data through Google Drive when you enable that feature; and
• maintain security, diagnose errors shown to you, and operate requested features.
3. Sharing and third parties
roo+ does not sell your personal information. roo+ does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not currently use third-party analytics or behavioral tracking services.
Information is transmitted only as needed to provide features you request:
• YouVersion receives requests needed for Bible content, authorization, and optional highlight access.
• Google processes Google Sign-In and stores optional backups in your Google Drive app-data folder.
These providers process information under their own privacy policies and terms.
4. Data security
roo+ uses HTTPS for supported network communications, secure storage for authorization tokens on Android, browser-session storage for the web authorization session, and Google Drive’s restricted app-data folder for optional backups. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but roo+ is designed to limit access to the information required for its features.
5. Retention and deletion
Local App data remains on your device or in your browser until you reset it in roo+, clear the App’s data, clear the browser’s site data, or uninstall the App. Some Android device-backup or restore services may preserve App data according to your device and Google account settings.
YouVersion authorization information remains until you sign out, clear App data, revoke access through YouVersion, or the authorization expires or is revoked.
Google Drive backup data remains in your Google account until it is overwritten or removed through your Google Drive or Google Account controls. Turning backup off or signing out of Google stops roo+ from accessing the backup but may not automatically delete the existing backup file.
roo+ does not create a separate roo+ account. Requests to delete a YouVersion or Google account must be directed to the applicable provider. For help deleting roo+ data, use the support email in Section 8.
6. Children’s privacy
roo+ is not directed to children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through roo+, use the support email in Section 8 so the issue can be reviewed.
7. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when roo+ features, integrations, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
