Ten Frame Fun!

Use the Ten Frame to help connect the abstractness of numerals to concrete objects.

Ask your child draw a numeral card from the deck (in Tool Kit).

Ask them tell you the name of the numeral

Ask them to show you the numeral's value on the Ten Frame using pom poms or other manipulatives

If you are using edible manipulatives, allow them to eat one and tell you which numeral card now represents the amount shown on the Ten Frame.

Add more items and ask which numeral card represents the amount shown on the Ten Frame.

Add more items than will fit onto the Ten Frame and ask them to tell you how many more than 10 they have

Quiz them on how quickly they can tell you how many objects are placed within a Ten frame...do nightly for a week and see if they can become faster and faster!
