Founded in 2025, Rooks at the Ridge was built on the belief that a community can thrive through the shared art of chess. We are a volunteer-run organization dedicated to fostering a welcoming space for creativity, personal growth, and meaningful connection. We believe that true progress comes from challenging ourselves - and that the experience shared across the board is what gives the game its deepest purpose.

• Progress over points - we are not a competitive organization, and our goal is to help one another grow

• Experience isn't a requirement, curiosity is - this chess club is for all who enjoy the game and are looking for an in-person setting

• The chess board is a place to express oneself creatively - accessible to all. No brush, canvas, or instrument required

• Be more excited to get it right than scared to get it wrong - we don't grow unless we learn. Oftentimes, that learning takes place through failure

To provide a cross-generational space that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and meaningful connection through the shared art of chess

To become a model for how chess can be integrated into the arts - where logic meets imagination, and competition becomes connection
