My artistic practice begins with poetry and expands into visual form. Working from original writing, I transform language into material and spatial experiences through text-based and mixed-media processes.
I am interested in what happens when poems move beyond the page: how words can become image, texture, object, and presence. Rather than illustrating poems, I translate their structures, silences, repetitions, and emotional landscapes into visual works that invite slower forms of reading and looking.
Themes of memory, identity, confession, impermanence, and transformation recur throughout my work. Rooted in a long-standing literary practice, my approach explores language not only as a vehicle for meaning but as material itself—something that can be fragmented, layered, obscured, and reimagined through visual expression.

This work emerged while taking a shower and contemplating the impermanence of life; like water life’s moments keep slipping away and have to be enjoyed in the now. A puzzle, that needs to be broken apart as soon as it is completed, so it can be enjoyed again, is a fitting representation of that impermanence life is all about.

Not I: Self-Portraits of Local Artists

The poem was solicited by a patron and quickly turned into an art piece that captures the nature of the words: how a woman with the powers of a healer helps reweave the fabric of this world during the pandemic. The poem is inserted as strips of paper interwoven with original newspaper threads of the times as well as a surgical mask.

CONFESSIONS: "the disclosure of one's sins in the sacrament of reconciliation“
This collaboration between Ernst Fischer (art) & Ronja Vieth (poetry) explored the admission of our personal trespasses in a unique way inspired by Ernst's art and Ronja's confessional poetry.
As part of Folkestone's Last Fridays' Art Trail, Ernst's studio D:NA will be open and vibrant with his art of which Ronja's poetic performance will be an integral, inspiring, and soul-cleansing part.
Due to the confessional nature of the event, we refrained from filming.
No other photographs of the event exist.
The process people were to engage in involved writing anonymous confessions onto pieces of paper while I was reading pieces of my confessional poetry in the background for enjoyment and inspiration. The pieces of paper later became part of the exhibit of Ernst Fischer’s work.
