MY STORY

My name is Romy, and for 24 years, I’ve lived in psychiatric institutions. At the age of 10, my life changed forever, I was hit by a car, suffering a brain injury. Instead of receiving the treatment i needed, I was placed into a system that subjected me to unimaginable abuse and neglect.

For nearly two decades, I’ve been forced to take medications that have destroyed my health. I’ve gained 65 kilos, developed diabetes, and endured solitary confinement. My father tried to advocate for me before his passing, but his efforts were met with resistance. I am now trapped in this system with no way out unless I find support.

WHY I NEED YOUR HELP

I’m reaching out to you because I desperately want to break free from this cycle of abuse and neglect. I dream of living a normal life, free from forced medication, solitary confinement, and the inhumane conditions of the psychiatric system. To do this, I need to raise €750,000 to cover the cost of:

• Housing: A safe, stable place to live independently.

• Specialized Care and Therapy: Proper treatment for my brain injury and mental well-being, far removed from the abusive institutions I’ve endured.

• Living Expenses: Financial stability to support myself as I rebuild my life.

This amount represents the opportunity to live with dignity, safety, and proper care for the rest of my life.
