In addition to our work to promote a great future for Romsey, we organise a number of recreational , "walk and chat" walks through the year.

Ryde, Isle of Wight, Full Day Trip
Meet at Romsey Station in time to catch the 08.52 to Portsmouth Harbour, arriving 09.53. Alternatively, drive to Portsmouth Park and Ride, and take the bus to The Hard Interchange, next to the ferry terminal. We would then meet for the 10.15 FastCat to Ryde. From Ryde, we walk (3 miles) to Seaview and have lunch there (option of a pub lunch). We then take a bus to Yaverland, and walk to Sandown (1.25 miles). (At Yaverland, there would be an optional visit to a zoo to see Uzbekistan bears.) From Sandown, we take a return bus to Ryde in time for the 15.45 FastCat to Portsmouth, to catch the 16.24 to Romsey, arriving 17.22. Either bring lunch and drinks, or purchase as we go. Meet at 10.00am at the car park at Horsebridge, opposite the John O’ Gaunt Inn (SU345304). This is a 5-mile circular walk starting on the Test Way, and returning via King’s Somborne. A 4-mile walk which starts at the Fryern Community Centre (SO53 2LE), grid ref SU440208 at 10.30am. (From the Halfway Inn, proceed along Oakmount Road past Waitrose, before turning right into Fryern Close, go down to the end, and turn right, then left into the car park.) The walk begins on a footpath under the M3, turning left past Lincoln Farm, and then over towards Otterbourne Grange. After reaching a waterfall, we cross the B335, to continue alongside a waterway before crossing back to Allbrook and back to the car park. Option of lunch at The Otter pub.
