As an ISSC Peer Mentor, I supported international students through guidance, communication, and community engagement while helping create a welcoming and inclusive environment at Weber State University. This experience strengthened my leadership, interpersonal communication, and cross-cultural support skills while allowing me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.

As a member of the Up to Us Leadership Network, I participated in leadership development experiences and policy-centered discussions focused on civic engagement, governance, public budgeting, and democratic participation. Through collaborative presentations, research, and advocacy-focused conversations, I explored how public policy decisions directly impact communities, higher education, and long-term social and economic outcomes.
One of the key areas of focus within the program involved examining Utah’s political and fiscal structure, including the state’s balanced budget requirement, public spending priorities, and the evolving role of citizen initiatives in policymaking. These experiences strengthened my understanding of policy analysis, public communication, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based advocacy while allowing me to collaborate with students and leaders from diverse backgrounds.
Participating in the Up to Us Leadership Network further developed my leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills while reinforcing my passion for advocacy, civic engagement, and community-centered public service.
