Footballers from the Superliga Tamiš had the advantage against Crvena zvezda at halftime, leading by Lazar Romanić's goal, but the red and whites showed their quality, and three points went to Belgrade, thanks to Mirko Ivanić and Jovan Mijatović.
In the first 45 minutes, the Pancevo team showed excellent play, and one of the best on the field was forward Lazar Romanić, the scorer of the leading goal for Železničar, after a cross from Aleksandar Đorđević.
The duel against the best team in the league was extremely tough because Red Star is a top team with many good individuals in the squad. We played at a high level throughout the match, and every player gave their maximum. It's regrettable that we didn't secure a point we deserved. We had the advantage at halftime, and I'm glad to have scored after Đorđević's excellent cross, but we couldn't preserve the minimal lead in the second half, and in the end, we were left without points - said Lazar Romanić.
After three matches and seven points won, despite the defeat against Red Star, you've shown that this team has the quality for greater achievements?
We need to forget this match and the results behind us as soon as possible. We want to work even better in training. Many times this fall, and even against Red Star, in some parts of the match, we lacked luck, but hopefully, it will come back to us somewhere. Based on the games we've played so far this season, we truly didn't deserve our current position on the table, but that's how it is, and we move on. There are still plenty of matches ahead of us.
A two-week break is coming up, followed by a challenging schedule in the remaining five rounds before the winter break?
We need to prepare as best as we can for the matches coming up in the next period. Our first opponent is Napredak at our home ground, and that's a crucial match. We know we have to prepare well because Krusevljani are a tough and unpleasant rival, even though we beat them on their turf in the first match of the season, it won't be easy.
Based on the performances this fall, realistically, you should have won more points?
Surely, we should have had five or six more points on our tally, but again, in football, the better team doesn't always win. It's important to collect points even when you're not playing at your best. We know what our goal is this season, and we all believe that we'll achieve it in the end. The match against Red Star showed our potential and unity on the field, and although we were defeated, we all believe that we'll make a series of good results in the upcoming matches - Romanić concluded.
