Hello. My name is David Romancheck. I have been a public school teacher since 2003 and a girls basketball coach since 2008. As a member of the Bound Brook community through teaching and coaching I have been blessed to meet, work with, teach, or coach so many wonderful people over the years. I am always grateful for the life path I chose. If you are interested in contacting me about anything please try my work email: dromancheck@bbrook.k12.nj.us. Professional Development
As both a computer science teacher and a basketball coach, I invest time in professional development.
Recently, as a teacher I earned a Masters of Science from Wilkes University. I also have invested countless hours improving my coding skills to teach at Bound Brook High School: Introduction to Computer Science (Python), AP Computer Science A (Java), Computer Science Principles, and Web Development (HTML/CSS). Some of these courses also allow students to earn concurrent credits with Stockton University. I've worked with the Rutgers Computer Science Department for over 150 hours of PD in their cohort 2 learning best practices for teaching computer science. My Twitter account @bigtalldrummer is used as a Professional Learning Network to stay connected with the world's coding, computer science, and web developer communities. I am also a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association.
As a a basketball coach I am always learning from all coaches I meet. I keep in contact with several coaches and trainers to help with my journey as a coach. I'm very proud of what we have been able to accomplish at Bound Brook during my many years of coaching. As an individual middle school coach, the girls and I have been able to earn now five championships. Also, with head coach Jen Derevjanik (ex-WNBA, ex-European Professional, and George Mason Hall of Famer), jv coach Denzel Sanders, and assistant coach Lacey Anne Meyers we have captured now 5 sectional championships for the school, several conference championships, and one state title in 2017. I will also include co-state champs of 2020 (since it was our last game not played due to Covid 19). During the 2021 season under the pandemic the girls were able to win their gold division tournament within Somerset county. We also have several girls playing basketball in college and some on scholarships.
