Matthew is pursuing a doctorate (Ph.D) degree in Jewish Thought. The topic of his research examines evidence of Roman law in the writings of Josephus as it pertains to verbal agreements and the Herodian dynasty. Previously, Matthew attended the University of Michigan where he concentrated on Judaic studies and hellenistic literature. In addition, he studied at the Ohio State University where he earned a master of arts in near eastern languages and cultures which focused on the development of Noahide law within rabbinic sources. In 2017, Matthew attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as a visiting research student where he concentrated on rabbinic midrash and the dead sea scrolls.
