Rolling Sky is a mobile game developed by Cheetah Mobile. It debuted on January 20th, 2016, under the scratch game studio TurboChilli, but was transferred to Cheetah Mobile, and then Minimax. The game features a ball that continuously rolls through a series of platforms. The ball is controlled by keeping one's fingers on the screen, and maneuvering it by moving your finger across the screen.
The primary objective of the game is to beat levels by guiding your ball to the end without crashing into an obstacle or falling off the platform. Shields can be used to protect the ball from a single obstacle, and a Float is used to prevent a fall. There are a finite amount of balls you can hold at once; each time you fail in a level, one ball is removed from your total amount. You can gain them back by watching ads or beating levels.
As of this writing, this game has a total of 189 levels. A few levels, such as old Forest, and all the Alan walker levels were removed for various reasons, however they are still available if you install an older game version.

On April 12th, 2019, Rolling Sky was ported to the Nintendo Switch by Rising Win Tech and Cheetah Mobile. It adds two new controls: the left C-stick and the Switch's gyroscope. All levels and characters are unlocked from the start, there are no ads nor Balls, and the touchscreen is less sensitive. It costs roughly $10 to buy.
The Steam port was released on February 20th, 2020, and it includes all of the levels from the Switch version. It is controlled via the mouse.
This game has been voted one of the top free games of 2017 on the App Store, and the best game of 2016 on Google Play.

History
Rolling Sky started development on May 8th, 2015, and was released in January 20, 2016. To coincide with this, a trailer was released the day after. The game had 5 levels at its initial release: Massif, Sky, Forest/Old, Desert, and Volcano.
The game was updated in March 2, 2016, adding a new level, City. As time went on, the game continued getting updates, adding new levels, and more features:
On September 6, 2016, Shields were added. This allowed you to tank crashing into one obstacle.
On April 4, 2017, Hearts and Checkpoints were added. Hearts allowed you to revive from the last checkpoint; checkpoints were placed at convenient parts of the level.
On June 24, 2017, the first ball character was added; the RS-001 was a vehicle that had a 30% chance of activating a shield.
Since then, every main level from Street Basketball to Alone, with the addition of Halloween Escape and Skeleton Party, has had their own skin, a few of them with a similar powerup as the RS-001.
On July 7, 2018, Rolling Sky collaborated with popular EDM artist Alan Walker to create a new level using his song, Alone. This is in spite of the fact that they had already made a level inspired after him, Ignite. On July 25, They released a bonus of the level with an original remix of the track.
On August 24, 2018, the level Faded released, which was another Alan Walker Level. The remix bonus released on September 7, 2018, and the four levels came to be part of the EDM pack.
EDM levels were locked behind a 2.99$ paywall, however, tickets allowed you to play part of them.
On September 27, 2018, Rolling Sky released a level called Happy Birthday, made to commemorate the three years since it first started development. The level was themed after a birthday party, and contained many cameos to older levels, such as E-Labyrinth and Candy. The level was also extremely hard.
This update also came with the Golden Heart, which allowed you to revive in the place you last died, if you died far from the past checkpoint. However, using more than one in a single run would consume 2 gold hearts instead of 1; using a third would drain 4 gold hearts, and any more would consume 8.
On January 10, 2019, Rolling Sky collaborated with Marshmello, another popular EDM artist, with the release of Alone II.
On February 27, 2019, they would write another lease with Walker to release The Spectre, with The Spectre Remix releasing on March 26. The 3 aformentioned levels would finish the EDM pack.
All the EDM levels would be removed after around a year of their respective releases, however, they remained fully accessible to those who brought them.
On April 12, 2019, Cheetah Mobile partnered with Rising Win Tech to port Rolling Sky and Rolling Sky 2 to the Nintendo Switch. The port had 38 levels, and was controlled using the left C-stick and the Gyroscope. On February 20, 2020, Its Steam Port also released, with 38 levels as well. The port was controlled using the mouse.
On June 4, 2019, Floats were added. This allowed players to float over the air to prevent a fall, once.
On January 1, 2020, Weekly Matches were added. Each week, a level (preferrably a new one) would be selected for the Weekly Match. The objective was to get as many points as possible, by smashing as many obstacles as you could while simutaneously collecting all crowns and gems. You also had to avoid touching the air as much as possible, as a longer stay in the air will exponentially remove more points, until you hit 0 and fall.
On February 20, 2020, on the same day as the Steam Port's release, Cheetah Mobile was banned from Google Play, so all of its apps including the official Rolling Sky, were removed from the Google Play Store. However, the game still got updates through TapTap.
On July 1, 2020, Monster City was released, which would be the game's final addition for over two years. No word from Cheetah Mobile for a while, and players were concerned about the game's end, since dancing line had also forced to end earlier that year. On September 29, 2020, a Chinese Bilibili post was made, addressing a leak which revealed that @十年叔叔 stated that Rolling Sky would stop receiving updates. The post confirmed the end of the game, as well as other things.[2]
However, 2 years later, on October 28, 2022, another Bilibili post was made, by a person on the Rolling Sky team called SquareRoot. The post confirmed the return of Rolling Sky, and that its content updates will resume. The post also discussed other things, such as SquareRoot's experience in the past 2 years, and the future of the game, as well as the game's return on the Google Play store. On December 14, 2022, Rolling Sky made its second debut with its 38th bonus, Goblin Town released on both iOS and TapTap. As of writing, the game's content updates are on resume.
