Roleo is a place for creative, character-driven fiction. Private chats are yours, but anything you publish is shared with the community and must follow these guidelines. They apply to published characters, profiles (username, display name, bio) and reports. They are part of our Terms of Service.
Roleo is for adults (18+). Published characters may contain fictional mature themes, but they must be tagged accurately (for example Limitless/Limited, Smut, Dead Dove, Horror, Angst).
Fiction is welcome. Harm to real people is not.
Every character is reviewed by a moderator before it goes public.
Sexual content involving minors, or anyone presented as a minor, including "aged-up" or "actually 1000 years old" characters whose description, behavior or appearance is childlike in a sexual context. No exceptions for fiction, tags or disclaimers.
Real-world exploitation: content that depicts or encourages real sexual abuse, non-consensual intimate imagery of real people, or sexualized content about real, identifiable people.
Real-world violence and terrorism: content that promotes, glorifies or instructs real violence, extremist movements, or hate groups.
Hate: characters whose purpose is to demean people for race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or other protected traits. Villains and difficult themes in fiction are fine; content that exists to spread hatred is not.
Self-harm promotion: content that encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
Illegal activity instructions: real instructions for weapons, drugs, malware, fraud or other serious harm.
Doxxing, harassment and impersonation of real people.
Personal data: do not include real phone numbers, addresses, passwords or private information about anyone.
Dark themes (violence, abuse, trauma, horror, dubious consent) can exist in fiction but must be clearly tagged and not be the sole purpose of a character to normalize real-world harm. Use the Dead Dove or relevant tags where fitting.
Real people and public figures: do not publish characters portraying real private individuals. Satire or parody of public figures must not be sexual, defamatory or deceptive.
Copyrighted and fictional-universe characters are allowed only where you have the right or where the use is a transformative fan creation; we may remove them following rights-holder requests.
Spam and misleading content: no empty, duplicate or low-effort submissions, misleading names or taglines, or advertising.
Profiles: usernames, display names and bios must not contain content that would be disallowed above.
Fill in every field: name, tagline, description, definition and at least one greeting.
Use {{char}}, {{user}} and {{user_pronouns}} so characters work with any persona.
Pick accurate tags (up to 10).
Avatars are not uploaded to the cloud, so describe appearance in the text if it matters.
When you submit a character it is pending until reviewed.
Approved: it becomes public on your profile and can be added to other users' libraries.
Declined: it stays private. Review these guidelines, edit it, and resubmit after the 24-hour cooldown.
Removed later: approved content can be removed if reports or further review show a violation. If you later unpublish or delete a character, users who added it will lose access.
Use the three-dot menu on a character and choose Report. Give a short, specific reason. Please do not submit false or abusive reports. Reports are reviewed by moderators; you may not receive an individual reply.
Depending on severity and history, we may: decline or remove content, remove published characters, restrict publishing, block or delete accounts, and report illegal content (including child sexual abuse material) to the relevant authorities. We may act without prior warning for serious violations.
