ROKAKUAN 六覚庵 is a Japanese tea pavilion based in Paris 1st district, dedicated to the practice and sharing of Chado, the Japanese Way of Tea.
Through tea gatherings and cultural encounters, ROKAKUAN brings together Japan and France, sharing the beauty, spirit and hospitality of Japanese tea culture.
Based in Paris, ROKAKUAN offers an intimate space dedicated to tea, where Japanese tradition meets a contemporary French environment.
ROKAKUAN offers regular Chanoyu classes, dedicated to the deeper study and practice of the Way of Tea. These sessions provide an opportunity to progressively deepen one’s understanding of the gestures, principles and spirit of Chanoyu through continued practice.
Every month, ROKAKUAN also presents Tsukigama 月釜, a monthly tea gathering and demonstration. Tsukigama offers guests the opportunity to encounter Chanoyu in an authentic tea setting and to discover, through the preparation and serving of tea, the principles of Japanese hospitality and the aesthetics of the Way of Tea.
Between Paris and Japan
ROKAKUAN’s activities extend between France and Japan, creating opportunities to experience Chanoyu beyond geographical and cultural boundaries.
Tea gatherings are held in Paris as well as in exceptional places in Japan, always with the intention of sharing the quiet beauty and profound hospitality at the heart of the Way of Tea.
