Latest News: Our preprint on the "Realization of a chiral photonic-crystal cavity with broken time-reversal symmetry" is now on the arxiv! In this paper, in collaboration with the Kono group at Rice, we pushed forward the realization of a 1D terahertz photonic-crystal cavity which shows broken time-reversal symmetry via a circularly polarized THz mode, under a moderate magnetic field. This platform offers a platform for chiral light-matter interactions and vacuum dressed quantum condensed matter in the terahertz regime. We are excited about upcoming experiments!

We explore novel regimes of light-matter interaction, where the coupling between photons and matter is so strong, that photons are no longer a mere probe of materials, but can be actually used to control and design, desirable material properties.

These include the control of quantum transport and topological phases, the manifestation of entanglement in quantum materials, and the influence of photons on chemical reactivity. Our work aims to contribute to advances in quantum science, with a vision of enabling applications and the development of innovative photonic devices.
