Roey Shimony

Earth Sciences PhD student @ University of Oregon

AboutMe

Grew up outside of Tel Aviv, Israel. I received his B.S. and M.S. in Earth Sciences from Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Be’er Sheva. My M.S. thesis’ main theme was to evaluate wave propagation and ground motion amplification in sedimentary basins created by the Dead Sea Transform in northern Israel using 3D numerical simulations. After graduating, I worked as a consultant geologist and supervisor for several projects at a large geotechnical company in Israel.

Currently, I'm a first year PhD student working with Valerie Sahakian in the seismic hazard group at UO. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cooking, playing guitar and watching all kinds of sports.
