Principal Investigator
Assistant Professor at the Department of Pediatrics, Darby Children's Research Institute, Hollings Cancer Center, Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Rodriguez-Blanco completed her graduate studies in Neurosciences at the University of Oviedo (Spain), where she studied the relationship between redox status and basic cell behavior, such as cell death and proliferation, in the context of neurodegeneration and cancer. After receiving additional training in Neurosciences at Columbia University (NY), she completed her postdoctoral appointment in Cancer Research at the University of Miami (FL). During her years as a postdoc, her work was aimed at understanding the role developmental pathways play in cancer, specifically in medulloblastoma, which is the most common malignant brain tumor in children. Now as an independent investigator at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Dr. Rodriguez-Blanco’s research is still focused on medulloblastoma, with an emphasis on identifying novel therapeutics to block tumor growth and prevent its relapse.
