I am currently a Lecturer at the University of Exeter, specialising in Natural Language Processing (NLP), language assessment and cognitive computational models. I earned my PhD in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in 2016, focusing on language performance and profiling. My interests include cognitive computational models, computer-assisted language learning, knowledge extraction, question answering, information retrieval, knowledge representation, chatterbots, text classification, text simplification, word embedding, and user modeling; for English, Portuguese and French. During my career, I have worked in research groups at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Strasbourg (Unistra), University of Essex (UEssex), University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy), and Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain).
