Expertise and interests
My research currently involves applying geochronology and geochemistry to solve and understand a diverse series of questions about sedimentary basins evolution and geodynamics.
It is based mainly around:
(i) The application of laser-ablation ICP-MS techniques to isotopic dating of sedimentary deposits and sedimentary provenance analysis;
(ii) The use of Electron Probe Microanalyzer (EPMA) techniques to geochemical analysis of accessory minerals in sedimentary sequences (primarily sedimentary provenance analysis using detrital rutile);
(iii) Characterization of minerals using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM);
(iv) The integrated analysis between sedimentological and stratigraphical analysis and geochronological and provenance data;
(v) Secular changes in metamorphism and the onset of plate tectonics;
(vi) Geodynamics and crustal evolution.
Other research interests are:
(i) The role of reliquiar tectonical structures preserved in tropical soils in the occurrence of landslides in the Serra do Mar mountain range;
(ii) The mechanical stratigraphy analysis and studies of the Irati, Corumbataí and Pirambóia formations (Paraná Basin, São Paulo State) and its role in the hydrocarbon migration and accumulation.
